Clean Beauty Bonanza

Pause before you purchase.

The Sephora sale is upon us. While it's tempting to go nuts, buying up items and indulging in products you might not typically purchase, it's important to pause. As with any health practice, give yourself space to think about the choices you're about to make. Once you're able to think it over, will you still hit complete purchase?

Makeup and personal care products are major culprits of endocrine-disrupting, skin-irritating, and carcinogenic chemicals. It's not just that some of the chemicals are a bit scary, it's that we put them on our bodies, repeatedly, and leave them on for hours at a time.

Luckily, Sephora has paid attention to consumer demands for more transparency and better products. They offer a clean beauty seal of approval which means you can shop knowing your products are free of some of the most harmful chemicals, and they continue to update this list over time. Sephora has also added a planet-positive seal for companies who are committed not only to clean ingredients but to sustainable sourcing practices, responsible packaging, and environmental causes. While it is definitely a step in the right direction it's not perfect. I highly recommend cross-checking your products on EWG.org. So as with anything, continue to read your labels and be familiar with the brands you buy.
Happy shopping!

To Cover

When looking for an everyday foundation there are a few requirements I"m sure we all have. Good coverage but not too heavy (don't want to look cakey). The perfect shade that blends in seamlessly (don't want to have a mismatched head). A long-lasting product that holds up all day (don't want your face sliding off by lunchtime).

Founded in 2018 and already one of my favorite brands, Westman Atelier creates high-performing, clean makeup that not only enhances but is formulated to replenish and balance the skin. It comes in a wide array of colors for skin tones of every shade, is light enough to comfortably wear all day without feeling like you're wearing a mask, and has an A rating by the EWG along with Sephora's clean stamp of approval.

Thank you Angela D. for introducing me to this brand!

To Pout

The perfect mutli-use stick for moms (or anyone really). Running out the door in the am and need to look alive? Ilia's cream blush & lip tint is something you'll want to keep in your bag to have on hand at all times. Whether you need to add a little color to your lips, cheeks, or both it's the perfect little sidekick to make you look (& feel) like you have a pulse on the go!

Ilia Beauty was founded by a wellness-minded mom who was horrified to learn about the ingredients in the lip balm she was using. Ilia began there and has since expanded into an entire line of high-quality quality makeup that also focuses on environmentally conscious packaging. While they have many products rated 1 by the EWG it's always important to cross-check & see what ingredients are present in your products & what you are comfortable with purchasing!

To Hydrate

The seasons are changing, the weeks feel like they're getting longer, and our skin needs some extra love. Summer Fridays' award-winning hydrating mask is the perfect product to rehydrate your skin & get the glow your looking for.

Summer Fridays was founded by two influencers sick of sifting through the mountains of personal care products they were constantly being sent. Jet Lag Mask was their first product and it's no wonder they can't keep it on shelves. It has the EWG stamp of approval and is a great multi-use product for the woman on the go.
