Moments of Transition

There is nothing permanent, except change
— Heraclitus

This month's newsletter is slightly delinquent. We've been traveling, and instead of stressing about how and when I'd get this out, I decided to shelve it. Wait until we arrived home and just enjoy the experience at hand. And what do you know?! The entire subject of what I planned to write about changed. This idea of noticing and working within life's transitions has been percolating for a while... but there is nothing like travel (and all its unpredictableness) to really hit that idea home.

The month of May is all about ushering in change. In the Northeast, the weather has finally shifted and we are beginning to see the first signs that summer is on the way. It also means that the end of school is right around the corner, and with it, a new set of schedules and a whole new routine that must be established.

Just when it feels like we finally have a grip on things and they are going smoothly, change ushers itself in. The realization that life really is just a series of transitions and changes has been so helpful in the ability to welcome them in. As that has become easier the more smooth their edges become.

So, instead of fighting against it, maybe we learn to roll with it. To realize that change is here to show us something new, teach us new things, and bring about growth.

Let's all pause, take a deep breath, and usher in the next phase.
